Discover the beauty and craftsmanship of Mexico with “Fatou en Mode” docuseries

I remember the feeling of excitement as I stepped off the plane in Mexico, ready to begin my latest adventure. As the host of the documentary series “Fatou en Mode,” I travel to different countries to explore their cultures through the lens of fashion and craftsmanship. And let me tell you, my trip to Mexico did not disappoint.
One of the highlights of my journey was visiting Juchitan de Zaragoza, a small town in Oaxaca known for its rich cultural heritage. Here, I met with local artists, designers, and seamstresses who showed me their beautiful work and shared stories of their traditions. I was particularly drawn to the muxhe community, a group of individuals who identify as neither male nor female, and who hold a special place in the town’s cultural fabric.
Another unforgettable moment came in Huatulco, where I had the privilege of meeting some of the last people in Mexico who still use snails to dye clothing. The process is long and intricate, involving hours of careful work to extract the vibrant colors from the snails’ shells. It was incredible to witness firsthand the dedication and skill required to create such beautiful garments.
And finally, my journey led me to the bustling metropolis of Mexico City, where I had the opportunity to work with upcycling designer Alonso Murillo on a photoshoot. We created stunning looks using repurposed materials, showcasing the creativity and innovation that can come from sustainable fashion practices.
Overall, my time in Mexico was a true eye-opener. It’s amazing how much you can learn about a culture through its fashion and crafts. I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to meet so many talented and passionate people, and to share their stories with the world through “Fatou en Mode.” I invite you to join me on this journey by watching the documentary series, and discovering the beauty of Mexico for yourself.
